Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, popularly known as THE MISSILE MAN OF INDIA was born on October 15th, 1931 in the island town of Rameswaram, Tamilnadu. He is the 11th president of India. He had done his schooling at Schwartz Higher Secondary School and then completed his B.Sc. from St. Joseph College, Tiruchirappalli. Later Kalam extended his qualification by completing Aerospace Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology.

He joined DRDO (Defense research and development organization) as a scientist in 1958 and in 1963 he joined ISRO. His contribution to the development of world-class missiles Agni, Prithvi, Akash, etc. for India is remarkable. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has been crowned with Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, Ramanujan Award, Padma Vibhushan, and many other awards. Unfortunately, we lost this great scientist on 27th July 2015.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, popularly known as APJ Abdul Kalam is one of the most glittering scientists throughout the world. He was born on 15th October 1931 in the small town of Tamilnadu. He completed his schooling at Schwartz Higher Secondary School then he passed out BSc from St. Joseph College.

After BSc, he joined MIT (Madras Institute of Technology). Later he joined DRDO in 1958 and ISRO in 1963. Due to his utmost effort or restless work India has got world-class missiles like Agni, Prithvi, Trishul, Akash, etc. He is also known as the Missile Man of India.

From 2002 to 2007 APJ Abdul Kalam served as the 11th President of India. In 1998 he was honored with the highest civilian award of India Bharat Ratna. Except that he has been awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1960 and Padma Bhushan in 1981.  He dedicated his whole life to the development of the country.

During his life, he visited thousands of schools, and colleges and tried to motivate the youths of the country to work for the development of the country. On 27th July 2015 at the age of 83 APJ Abdul Kalam passed away while he was delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong due to a sudden cardiac attack. The death of APJ Abdul Kalam is a great loss for India.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the eminent scientist of India was born on October 15th, 1931 in the island town of Rameswaram, Tamilnadu. He was elected as the 11th president of India and there is no doubt that Dr. Kalam is the best President of India so far. He is also known as ‘’The Missile man Of India’’ and “The People’s President”.

After finishing his schooling at the Schwartz Higher Secondary School, Ramanathapuram, Kalam went ahead and joined Saint Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli. After completing BSc, from the Madras Institute of Technology, in 1958 he began his career as a scientist at DRDO.

He worked with the INCOSPAR (Indian National Committee for Space Research) under the renowned space scientist Vikram Sarabhai in the early 1960s and also designed a small hovercraft in DRDO. In 1963-64, he visited space research centers in Virginia and Maryland. Having returned to India APJ Abdul Kalam began to work on an independently expandable rocket project at DRDO.

Later he was happily transferred to ISRO as project manager for the SLV-III. SLV-III is the first satellite launch vehicle designed and produced by India. He was appointed as a Scientific Advisor to the Minister of Defense in 1992. In 1999 he was appointed as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government of India with the rank of Cabinet Minister.

For his remarkable contribution to the nation, APJ Abdul Kalam has been awarded prizes such as Bharat Ratna (1997), Padma Vibhushan (1990), Padma Bhushan (1981), Indira Gandhi Prize for National Integration (1997), Ramanujan Prize (2000), King Charles II Medal (in 2007), International Prize von Karman Wings (in 2009), Hoover Medal (in 2009) and many more.

Unfortunately, we lost this jewel of India on 27th July 2015 at the age of 83. But his contribution to India will always be remembered and honored.

APJ Abdul Kalam, the missile man was born in a middle-class Tamil family in the island town of Rameswaram in the former Madras state on 15th October 1931. His father Jainulabdeen had not much formal education but he possessed a pearl of great wisdom.

His mother Ashiamma was a caring and loving housewife. APJ Abdul Kalam was one of the many children in the house. He lived in that ancestral house and was a small member of the huge family.

During the time of the Second World War APJ Abdul Kalam was a child of around 8 years. He could not understand the complicacy of war. But during that time, suddenly a demand for tamarind seed erupted in the market. And for that sudden demand, Kalam was able to earn his first wages by selling tamarind seeds in the market.

He mentions in his autobiography that he used to collect the tamarind seeds and sell them in a provision shop near his home. During those war days his brother-in-law Jalaluddin told him the stories of the war. Later Kalam traced those stories of war in a newspaper named DINAMANI. During his childhood days, APJ Abdul Kalam also distributed newspapers with his cousin Samsuddin.

APJ Abdul Kalam was a brilliant kid from his childhood. He passed out of High school from Schwartz Higher Secondary School, Ramanathapuram, and joined Madras Institute of Technology. He becomes a science graduate from that institution and started to work in DRDO in 1958.

He later shifted to ISRO and was the Chief instructor of the SLV3 project in ISRO. It is suitable to mention that missiles like Agni, Akash, Trishul, Prithvi, etc. are part of that project of APJ Abdul Kalam.

APJ Abdul Kalam has been honored and awarded with many prizes. He has been awarded IEEE Honorary Membership in 2011. In 2010 the University of Waterloo conferred a doctorate degree on him. Except that Kalam got Hoover Medal ASME Foundation from the USA in 2009.

In addition to International von Kármán Wings Award from California Institute of Technology, USA (2009), Doctor of Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2008), King Charles II Medal, the UK in 2007 and much more. He has also been awarded The Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.

Dr. Kalam always tried to uplift the youths of the country by motivating them to work for the development of the country. During his lifetime Dr. Kalam visited many educational institutions and passed his valuable time with students.

Unfortunately, APJ Abdul Kalam died on 27th July 2015 due to a cardiac arrest. The death of APJ Abdul Kalam will always be considered as one of the most tragic moments for the Indians. Hello, Good morning to all.

I am here with a speech on APJ Abdul Kalam. APJ Abdul Kalam is one of the most shining figures of India. In fact, Dr. Kalam is a popular figure throughout the world. He was born on 15th October 1931, in the temple town of Rameswaram, Tamilnadu. His father’s name was Jainulabdeen who was an imam at a local mosque.

On the other hand, his mother Ashiamma was a simple housewife. During the time of the Second World War Kalam was about 8 years old and at that time he used to sell tamarind seeds in the market to earn some extra money for his family. During those days he also used to distribute newspapers along with his cousin Samsuddin.

APJ Abdul Kalam was a student of Schwartz Higher Secondary School in Tamilnadu. He was among the hard-working students of the school. He passed out from that school and joined Saint Joseph College. In 1954 he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from that college. Later he did aerospace engineering at MIT (Madras Institute of Technology).

In 1958 Dr. Kalam joined DRDO as a scientist. We know that DRDO or Defense Research and Development Organization is one of the most prestigious organizations in India. Later he shifted himself to ISRO and became an integral part of India’s space missions. India’s first satellite launching vehicle SLV3 is the result of his utmost sacrifice and dedicated work. He is also known as the missile man of India.

Let me add in my speech on APJ Abdul Kalam that Kalam was not only a scientist but also the 11th president of India. He served the nation from 2002 to 2007 as a President. Being a President he tried his level best to make India a superpower in the field of science & Technology.

We lost this great scientist on 27th July 2015. His absence will always be felt in our country.
